Midfielder Set For Bucs Return Or Exit?
Orlando Pirates Midfielder Faces Uncertain Future
A search for a new team could be an option for an on-loan midfielder, should he not return to Orlando Pirates at the end of the season.
Having spent the 2017/18 PSL campaign with Chippa United on loan from Pirates, Mahlatse Makudubela is facing an uncertain future, as the season nears to an end.
As reported in the latest edition of Soccer Laduma, issue number 1070, Makudubela could be in the hunt for a new club in the 2018/19 campaign, should Bucs decide against utilising his services in their squad next season.
‘Skudu’, as the player is known in football circles, is struggling for game-time at Chippa this season.
Of the three coaches, in Dan Malesela, Teboho Moloi and Vladislav Heric, that the 28-year-old has worked under at Chippa this season, he has played under only one in all competitions all season.
The winger’s only appearance for the Chilli Boys this season was when he came on as a second half substitute under Moloi, against Golden Arrows in September.
Apart from being included in the 18-man match day squad in one other fixture for Chippa, the player has not been included in the team’s plans. Based on his lack of game-time, it is unlikely that Chippa will extend Makudubela’s stay with them beyond his loan spell.
Prior to joining Chippa, Makudubela battled to establish himself at Bucs. He had hoped to resurrect his career with the Chilli Boys, something that he has failed to do in the 2017/18 season.
It now remains to be seen if Bucs will opt to keep him on their books, once he returns, or if he is sent out on loan again, or released.
