Orlando Pirates Likely To Release More Players

Orlando Pirates could be set to announce one or few other players to leave the club before the transfer window closes shut on Thursday.

On Tuesday, it was announced from The Buccaneers that the club parted ways with Patrick Phungwayo, following an agreement for the mutual termination of his contract with the Soweto giants.

Indication from sources close to the club is that Bernard Morrison could also be affected by the squad changes taking place at Bucs. However, there has been no official confirmation from the club on whether the Ghanaian will be on his way out this week or at a later stage.

Morrison has been facing an uncertain future with Pirates since the end of last season. The midfielder-cum-striker hasn’t featured in any of the games played by the side so far this season.

Last season he struggled for game time under the different coaches that had been at the helm at the club. The 24-year-old has been linked with a return to AS Vita Club in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

However, the player previously told Soccer Laduma that his aim was to finish his Pirates contract with the club.

In further news at Pirates, defender Tercious Malepe is expected to conclude a season-long loan to Ajax Cape Town as reported by the Siya crew, while midfielder Marshall Munetsi is also being linked with the Mother City outfit.

I think releasing Morrison would be a mistake, this guy is a brilliant player with just one or two aspects of his game needing to improve. He is exciting going forward and should be given game time this season. We cannot be releasing and not playing players like Morrison while Gabuza enjoys game time. In my view Gabuza, Jele, Gcaba and Nyauza should make way for the laaities. I would also add Sarr to the mix, but my concern there is that we are running thin in that central defensive midfield position

Amajita hammered by Brazil Posted: 31 August 2017 Time: 07:14 am The South Africa U-20 team were thumped 4-0 by Brazil in a friendly at Saint George's Park in England on Wednesday night. This was the first of two matches of a tri-nations tournament that also involves the host nation. After a decent first half in which they held their own against their much-fancied opponents, Amajita fell apart in the second stanza. Brazil made several changes in the opening half, while stand-in Amajita head coach Helman Mkhalele made four changes in the 59th minute. He brought on Leo Thethani, Dylan Stoffels, Lyle Foster and Keegan Allan for Tashreeq Matthews, Duncan Adonis, Tyrique Bartlett and Luke Le Roux respectively. The move did not pay off as the team lost shape – conceding their first goal three minutes later through Vitinho. The striker grabbed his second of the night in the 66th minute to increase his side’s lead. In an attempt to try and pull one back, the South Africans were caught napping at the back, and Rodrigo Nestor netted Brazil’s third in the 69th minute. Foster came close to reducing the deficit a short while later after he beat the opposition defence with some skillful play, but his curler went wide. Brazil’s second-half substitute Brenner could have easily made it 4-0 when he managed to beat the offside trap but was in a hurry to take a shot with the goalkeeper at this mercy, and he fired off target. The fourth goal came, however, in the 89th minute through Yuri Alberto. Prior to the goal, South Africa made their fifth substitution, replacing an injured Dean Solomons with Sibusiso Shabane. Amajita next face England on Monday before returning home on Wednesday morning. The match takes place at Harrison Park Stadium in Leek. Kick-off is at 19h00.
