Bucs To Hang Onto Utility Player?
Orlando Pirates likely to keep Abbubaker Mobara
It is understood that Orlando Pirates could hang onto one of their utility players.
Following a number of media reports that have linked Abbubaker Mobara with an exit from the club, as the former Ajax Cape Town player has endured an injury-hampered season.
Sources close to the club have indicated that the 24-year-old will remain with the Buccaneers for the upcoming season.
“He is a quality player who can play both at defence and in midfield,” revealed a source.
“Furthermore, he provides great cover in key positions and he combines well with all the midfield players so he is an asset especially now that the team is gunning to compete in the Champions League,” added the source.
At the start of the year, Mobara was linked with a possible move to Bidvest Wits in a swap deal involving then target, Thulani Hlatswayo.
Meanwhile, several players in the Bucs camp have been linked with an exit from the club in the next transfer window, including central midfielders such as Thamsanqa Sangweni and Issa Sarr, all of who have struggled to get game-time.
The Sea Robbers host Free State Stars in their final league game of the 2017/18 season this coming Saturday at the Orlando Stadium. The match is scheduled to start at 15H00.
