Orlando Pirates are believed to be interested in the services of Kaizer Chiefs’ Brilliant Khuzwayo as they look to find a regular number one between the poles.
The highly-rated goalkeeper has been influential for Amakhosi when stepping in for first-choice shot stopper, Itumeleng Khune. However, following an injury which he sustained in March this year, the player was forced to watch from the sidelines for the rest of the campaign.
As Khuzwayo makes his way to full recovery, Soccer Laduma has been informed by sources within the Pirates camp that the Bucs are looking at the possibility of luring the 27-year-old to the other side of Soweto, as they look to correct the area of concern in their goalkeeping department.
The Soweto giants have struggled to find a regular number one shot stopper, following the passing of the late Senzo Meyiwa and during this past 2016/17 season, the Buccaneers constantly alternated between Brighton Mhlongo, Jackson Mabokgwane and Siyabonga Mpontshane.
However, during the end of the campaign, it seemed as though Head Coach Kjell Jonevret entrusted Mabokgwane with the number one spot on the goalkeeper pecking order, however, indications are that the Bucs are still looking to reinforce that department.
Khuzwayo is still contracted to Chiefs and should Pirates look to act on their interest in the player, the Bucs will need to approach the Glamour Boys with an impressive offer and it remains to be seen whether Amakhosi will be keen on selling the player to their cross-city rivals.
