Bucs Deny Alex Heredia Link
Orlando Pirates' top administrator Floyd Mbele has dismissed recent reports that have linked the Soweto giants with the Argentinian goalkeeper coach.
Reports have surfaced that Orlando Pirates are already in search of a new goalkeeper coach after only 10 Absa Premiership games and that Alex Heredia was a frontrunner for the position.
However, Mbele has told Soccer Laduma that no such appointment has taken place and that the team is fully behind current goalkeeper trainer Ivica Vukusic.
"We are only 10 games into the league. We only recently appointed Ivica and we can't already be looking for a new trainer so early on," Mbele told the Siya Crew.
"It doesn't make sense that we would be hiring a new person after such a short period of time," added the Bucs man, labelling the reports as mischievous.
Pirates announced the signing of Vukusic in August shortly after unveiling Milutin Sredojevic as their new coach.
Heredia was formerly with SuperSport United and was roped in by the South African Football Association ahead of Bafana Bafana AFCON qualifiers earlier this year.
Pirates will look to welcome back their goalkeeper Wayne Sandilands when he returns from international duty with Bafana Bafana, as the team prepares for their league clash against Golden Arrows on 21 November.
