Impressed With Bucs Defender, AmaZulu Keen On Deal
Orlando Pirates Defender Wanted For AmaZulu Deal
Orlando Pirates and AmaZulu could be involved in a deal for a defender during this off-season.
The Siya crew has learnt that Usuthu are keen on signing Thembela Sikhakhane on a permanent deal from Pirates.
Sikhakhane impressed the KwaZulu-Natal outfit with his performances under coach Cavin Johnson this past season, which has led to the club keen on entering into a permanent deal with him.
The defender has been on a season-long loan at AmaZulu from Bucs. Speaking to the Siya crew, AmaZulu team manager Qedi Dlamini confirmed the Durban-based club’s interest in the right back.
“As you know, he (Sikhakhane) was on loan, so what we are trying to do is to keep him. We think Pirates is also open about us keeping him. I’m sure he will be joining us for next season,” said Dlamini.
Sikhakhane has been on Bucs’ books since 2016, having joined the club from AmaZulu’s neighbours in Golden Arrows. The player’s contract with the Buccaneers runs until June 2019, according to the Siya crew’s records.
