Bucs Defender Excluded From Camp
Orlando Pirates Defender’s Future In Doubt
Orlando Pirates’ Nkosinathi Mthiyane has been left behind while the team travelled to their training camp in Rustenburg.
After spending the first half of last season struggling for game time at Pirates, Mthiyane was loaned to Golden Arrows for the second half of the campaign.
The 29-year-old has been on Pirates’ books since last year. The left back was signed from Chippa United when he joined Bucs in July last year.
Mthiyane made 12 starts in the last 14 league games of the 2016/17 season for Abafana Bes’thende, under Clinton Larsen and his technical team.
“Nkosinathi Mthiyane is currently not in camp with Orlando Pirates. Pirates’ players are in camp in Rustenburg and Nkosinathi is nowhere to be seen there,” said the source.
In his current squad, Bucs coach Milutin Sredojevic has the likes of Thabo Matlaba, Marc van Heerden and Patrick Phungwayo for the left-back position.
Mthiyane, who has also been on the books of Thanda Royal Zulu and AmaZulu in his career, is facing uncertain future with the Buccaneers.
“I know nothing (about the future). You would think that I am lying to you when I tell you that I know nothing. Your guess is as good as mine,” said Mthiyane.
