Nkosinathi Mthiyane has completed a permanent move to Chippa United in time for the new season.
Having ended last season with Chippa after being loaned to the club from Orlando Pirates, Mthiyane had been linked with an exit from the Chilli Boys due to his lack of game time in the team. The 30-year-old left-back failed to play any matches for the Chilli Boys during his six-month stay with the side in the second half of the campaign.
The player’s lack of game time led to various reports linking him with an exit from the club. However, the Siya crew has it on good authority that the player has been retained, and will for part of Coach Dan Malesela’s squad.

Initially, Chippa had planned to strengthen the team’s left-back position with Pirates and Bafana Bafana international, Thabo Matlaba. The Eastern Cape-based outfit, however, was left disappointed after both Matlaba and the club’s other target, Bernard Morrrison, turned down an offer to join the side on loan from the Buccaneers.
“Nkosinathi Mthiyane is with Chippa United. He is with the team for the new season. He has joined the club on a permanent deal as he had his clearance on hand (from Pirates),” confirmed the source.
The Siya crew has been informed that Mthiyane has been included in Chippa’s travelling squad to the Free State for the team’s opening match of the 2018/19 season against Bloemfontein Celtic at the Dr Molemela Stadium on Sunday.
