Bucs Trip To Zambia Confirmed, To Attempt Signing Striker?

Orlando Pirates could use their upcoming trip to Zambia to make further attempts to sign a striker, who has been the club’s target.

The Buccaneers have confirmed that following their week-long pre-season training camp taking place in Nelspruit in Mpumalanga, the team is scheduled to travel to Zambia for the second phase of the team’s two-part pre-season programme.

As confirmed from the Soweto giants, the team will return to Johannesburg at the end of the week before flying out to Zambia where they will be expected to play friendly matches in preparation of the 2018/19 season.

With Bucs having in their squad Justin Shonga and Augustine Mulenga – the two Zambian players who have impressed with their performances since joining the club last season – the Buccaneers have been linked with another highly-rated Zambian in Lazarous Kambole. While Zambian club Zesco United has reportedly said that Kambole will not be going anywhere, Bucs are believed to be keen on pushing for the deal for the striker, after seeing him tormenting teams with his goalscoring exploits for Chipolopolo at the 2018 COSAFA Cup.

In January this year, Kambole scored for Chipolopolo against Pirates in a friendly match played at Rand Stadium in Johannesburg.

Zambia beat Pirates 3-1 in that match, with Kambole leaving a lasting impression as Zambia were preparing for the CHAN tournament that took place in Morocco earlier this year.

Pirates have reportedly been chasing the 24-year-old forward since then.
