Chiefs To Lose Out As Bucs Eye Leopards Star?
Orlando Pirates are believed to be leading the race for Black Leopards star, Meshack Maphangule, with Kaizer Chiefs likely to miss out once again.
Maphangule played a vital role in helping Lidoda Duvha secure their return to the Absa Premiership this week, playing 24 games in all competitions, however, will not be remaining with the club after deciding against signing a new deal.
Now, with his contract due to expire at the end of next month, the Siya crew has been informed - as reported in this week's issue of Soccer Laduma - that the Buccaneers could have persuaded the 26-year-old midfielder to make the switch amid interest from other clubs in the PSL.
‘Mabedi’, as he is fondly known, has been a target for Chiefs for some time now, although it is currently looking increasingly likely that he will be headed to the black side of Soweto rather than the gold side.
The midfield man will no doubt be eager to get his future finalised as soon as possible, and can already begin talks over – and finalise – a pre-contract due to the fact that he is into the last six months of his contract.
While Pirates are thought to be in the driving seat for Maphangule’s signature at present, until the move is confirmed, it could always be hijacked by any other interested party.
