Pirates To Push For Billiat Marquee Signing?
Orlando Pirates Could Be Pushing To Make Khama Billiat Their Marquee Signing
Orlando Pirates could be pushing to make Khama Billiat their marquee signing in the current January transfer window after missing out on both Leonardo Castro and Jeremy Brockie.
It was reported in last week’s edition of Soccer Laduma that Kaizer Chiefs have offered Billiat a pre-contract, however, Pirates are still believed to be in the race to land the Zimbabwean international’s signature.
While it is yet to be confirmed whether the player has put pen to paper on a pre-contract with an interested suitor, the Siya crew was informed that Pirates could be pushing to make the Mamelodi Sundowns man their marquee signing, after losing out in the race for Brockie and Castro to their Premier Soccer League rivals.
The Soweto giants’ inactivity during the current January transfer window has caused many supporters to question whether the Bucs will be making any more signings during this window.
Pirates have so far only completed the signing of Diamond Thopola and Phetso Maphanga from Chippa United, however, this was announced in December last year and there has been no other confirmation regarding new signings since.
Now, according to sources in the know, Pirates could be trying to lure Billiat to the club during the current January transfer window. However, could only be if the midfielder has not already signed a pre-contract elsewhere and if Sundowns are open to hearing offers for the player.
The Bucs have recently been heavily linked with Bidvest Wits’ Xola Mlambo and it remains to be seen whether the Soweto giants will secure the signature of both of these players before the January transfer window closes.
