Orlando Pirates And Platinum Stars Tracking Mncwango Situation
Orlando Pirates have not given up on landing the signature of one of Polokwane City’s strikers, with the player now in the final year of his contract with the club.
The Siya crew revealed in March this year that Pirates rekindled the interested in Thobani Mncwango, however, no move for the player materialised in the previous July/August transfer window period despite the 29-year-old previously confirming to the Siya crew that he was contacted by the Bucs.
Siya sources have since revealed that the Buccaneers have intensified their interest in the Rise and Shine striker, although, another PSL outfit has also shown interest in the player.
Sources have added that Free State Stars are also looking to bring the player on board at the club, however, indications are that the player would opt for a move to the Soweto giants.
As things stand, it seems that an exit for Mncwango from Polokwane could be on the cards, with the player making just two appearances so far in the 2017/18 campaign, with Siya sources indicating that the reason for his absence from the squad is due to the player’s unwillingness to sign a new contract with the club.
Mncwango’s contract is set to come to an end next year, June 30, which means that the striker will be free to pen a pre-contract elsewhere when he enters the last six months of his deal, although it remains to be seen whether Polokwane will be open to the sale of the striker in January, so as to avoid losing his services on a free in June.
