Another former PSL star is expected to officially announce his retirement from playing professional football to focus on a new career in coaching.
With Kagisho ‘KG’ Dikgacoi having recently announced his retirement from playing professional football to take up a position as an assistant coach at Royal Eagles in the NFD, the Siya crew has learnt that the same is likely to happen for former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder, David Mathebula.
Mathebula has been appointed an assistant coach to Sello Chokoe at Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC in the NFD.
While the club is said to be considering registering Mathebula as a player, the 35-year-old central midfielder is believed to be keen on focusing more on coaching than on playing.
“David Mathebula is one of the assistant coaches for TTM for the new season. For now, it is difficult to say if he will still be playing on not,” said the source.
Apart from Chiefs and TTM, Mathebula has also played for the likes of Dynamos, Moroka Swallows and SuperSport United in his professional career.
