Lucky ‘Fabregas’ Mohomi is fast proving that he was worth the risk that SuperSport United took when they signed him from Mamelodi Sundowns nearly five months ago, and now the club’s plans for the bustling midfielder have been revealed.
Mohomi was largely on the periphery at Sundowns, a team he joined in 2015, and struggled to get anywhere near Pitso Mosimane’s star-studded first team, spending most of his time in the stands.
It was always going to be a risk for Matsatsantsa to bring in a player who had played just four competitive games in three seasons - but their faith, it seems has paid off.
Not only has Fabregas shed the excess weight he had gained during his spell on the sidelines, he also reminded fans of his talent when he first broke onto the scenes with Free State Stars a few seasons ago.
In fact, the Siya sources have confirmed that Mohomi’s solid performances in a blue shirt has convinced the Tshwane outfit that he is worth exercising the two-year option on the one-year deal that he signed in October last year.
“Mohomi has a two-year option on his contract, which the club intend on exercising,” the source said.
According to sources, the SuperSport hierarchy has been impressed by Mohomi and outlined their plans to keep him at the club for the next two seasons.
Mohomi has made 12 appearances in all competitions for coach Kaitano Tembo’s side this season and has chipped in with two goals.
