New Deal For Former Orlando Pirates Defender
A former Orlando Pirates defender is one of the players who could be rewarded with a new contract at Free State Stars for his contribution to the amazing season by the Bethlehem team.
His inspiring performances in the Nedbank Cup helped Stars to win the trophy and Rooi Mahamutsa might have done enough to earn a new contract at the club, according to sources.
The centre back, who starred with his performances for Pirates in almost a decade with the Soweto giants between 2008 and 2016, has been impressive for Ea Lla Koto.
The Standerton-born player excelled in all of Stars’ five matches in the Nedbank Cup as the Free State outfit went on to win the trophy.
With the player’s contract concluding at the end of next month, the indication from sources close to the club is that he could be in line for r new deal if all goes well with negotiations between the parties.
“Rooi Mahamutsa is set to continue playing play for Free State Stars. There has been talk of a possible two-year contract extension for him,” said the source.
Mahamutsa’s progress in Absa Premiership matches was disrupted by a knee injury he picked up earlier in the season.
The 36-year-old made 14 starts in total in the league for Luc Eymael’s team.
