Mark Mayambela is no longer at Highlands Park, where he has been training recently in his search for a new club.
After leaving Chippa United at the end of last season, Mayambela took his search for a club back to Gauteng and has been training under his former coach Owen da Gama at the Lions of the North.
Mayambela previously played under Da Gama during his time at Bloemfontein Celtic at the start of his professional career between 2007 and 2010.
Under Da Gama at Siwelele, Mayambela arguably played best football of his career, which led to him securing a move to Orlando Pirates in 2010.
“Mark Mayambela is no longer at Highlands Park. He hasn’t been training with the team this week,” said the source.
At 31, and talented as he is, Mayambela will be strategic in his next move and would want to join his next club on a long-term contract but with a chance to play regularly, having already been at eight clubs in his career.
It is still unclear at this stage whether he will return to the Lions of the North or continue elsewhere in his search.
