Maritzburg Put Potential Moves On Ice, Big Three Wait…
Maritzburg United are believed to have put any talk of player departures on ice for the time being as they fight for their lives in the Absa Premiership.
A number of players at the club have been linked with moves elsewhere in South Africa ahead of the 2019/20 season, with players such as Fortune Makaringe, Siphesihle Ndlovu and Siyanda Xulu – among others – having attracted interest from some of the top clubs in the country.
Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs have all shown an interest in at least one of their players as they start their plans for next season, however the Siya crew have been informed that Maritzburg have decided that they will not be engaging in any discussions until they have played their remaining two games.
Eric Tinkler has overseen an upturn in fortunes for the club since taking over from Muhsin Ertugral, and with games against SuperSport United and Baroka on the horizon they have given themselves a fighting chance of climbing off the bottom of the table.
With Tinkler requiring 100% focus from his troops as they go chase six massive points in the next couple of weeks, and any talk of potential exits will go no further until it has been confirmed which division – the Absa Premiership or National First Division – they will be playing in.
