Maritzburg United Want R5m For Orlando Pirates Target Evans Rusike
Maritzburg United will want to secure at least R5m in transfer fees if they are to let their Zimbabwean striker, Evans Rusike, join Orlando Pirates or anyone else.
The 27-year-old has impressed with the Team of Choice since making the move to South Africa from Hwange FC in 2015.
There have been reports that Evans had already agreed terms with the Buccaneers ahead of a move in the upcoming window, however his representative, Edzai Kasinauyo - who tragically passed away this week - insisted that that is not the case.
Speaking prior to his passing in the in early hours of Friday morning, Kasinauyo explained the current situation regarding the player.
He told the crew, “As it stands, Evans is still a Maritzburg United player. There is no deal done, despite the reports elsewhere.
“I have had a chat with the chairman, and he has explained that Evans’ future will be discussed once they get back from the offseason and return for the new campaign.”
Maritzburg will regroup in a few weeks’ once they have finished their offseason break, although at this point in time don’t have a confirmed head coach for the new season.
Fadlu Davids is leading the way to take over on a permanent basis but nothing has been announced as of yet.
Once again, everyone at Soccer Laduma wishes to send their condolences to the Kasinauyo family and his friends following the tragedy.
