Maritzburg confirmed the contract extensions of five players, but there is still another they are yet to make a decision on.
Defender Nazeer Allie saw his contract with the Team of Choice expire at the end of June. There was an option to extend his deal for a further year, but the club is yet to exercise it.
Allie has not left the club, though, as he continues to train with the team ahead of the 2021/22 PSL campaign, and a decision on his future will be made in the coming weeks.
The former Bidvest Wits and Ajax Cape Town defender, who turned 36 in May, made 27 appearances in all competitions for the club last season.
Maritzburg chairman Farook Kadodia has confirmed to the Siya crew that they did not exercise the option in Allie's contract. It's unclear when a final decision will be made.
“He is still here at the club. We have not made a final decision on him. There was an option in his contract. The contract expired in June. We have a gentlemen’s agreement that he trains at Maritzburg,” Kadodia tells the Siya crew.
Maritzburg confirmed that they have extended the deals of five players, about a week after confirming the arrivals of Rowan Human, Alfred Ndengane, Zukile Kewuti and Lefa Hlongwane.
