Maritzburg United have confirmed that the Zimbabwean player who is on trial with the club, is yet to sign a contract with them.
It was recently reported by the Siya crew that Maritzburg identified Zimbabwean striker John Zhuwawu as a replacement for Evans Rusike, who secured a move to SuperSport United during the January transfer window.
Zhuwawu is currently on the books of CAPS United in Zimbabwe. While reports in Zimbabwe indicate that the 27-year-old has joined Maritzburg, the KwaZulu-Natal club’s chairman Farook Kadodia told the Siya crew that no decision has been made as yet on the forward.
“The guy is on trial. We haven’t signed him yet. The coach (Fadlu Davids) needs to look at him first and if he is the right player, we will sign him,” said Kadodia.
With the transfer window no longer open, the Team of Choice could decide to sign the player on a pre-contract for now, if the technical team is impressed with him.
