Maritzburg Put Asking Price On Midfielder While Chiefs And Sundowns Watch…
Maritzburg United Have Placed A Price Tag On Lebohang Maboe's Services
Maritzburg United have finally placed an asking price on Lebohang Maboe’s services, despite previously revealing that he is not for sale.
The 23-year-old had a great 2017/18 campaign under the mentorship of Head Coach Fadlu Davids at the Team of Choice, scooping two accolades, the Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament and the Nedbank Cup Most Promising Player.
There has been interest in Maboe pouring in from all over, with Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and KV Oostende all believed to be keen on the player.
However, Head Coach Davids said in May, that the club will not be selling any of their star players locally and will only consider letting them go, should a European club come knocking on their door.
“We’ll do our planning for next season in the next few weeks. I think the main thing for us will be to keep all our players. After our initial meetings with the chairman, that will happen, unless European clubs come knocking, you don’t want to then stand in the players’ way,” he said at the time.
The Siya crew has since been informed by sources in the know that Maritzburg have put a €500 000 (±R8 Million) price tag on Maboe’s services.
The source has also added that the KwaZulu-Natal-based club will be keen on selling the player abroad, given that a club from Europe will be keen on tabling their asking price.
