Transfer Update As Maritzburg Gear Up
Maritzburg United Have Decided Against Signing A Couple Of Players
Maritzburg United seem to have all but finalised their squad ahead of the new season, with Fadlu Davids taking some decisions on players as the opening game approaches.
The Team of Choice have already signed Keagan Buchanan, Nazeer Allie, Denwin Farmer, Sizwe Muthwa and Tholang Masegela in the build up to their 2018/19 campaign, landing players from big clubs like Kaizer Chiefs, Bidvest Wits and SuperSport United in their bid to keep up their fine form.
Now, with their clash with Golden Arrows on the horizon this afternoon, it appears that Davids is happy with the squad that he has put together, opting against bringing in Prince Dube from SuperSport, as well as Neo Makua.
Meanwhile, the Siya crew has also been informed that they are yet to make a decision on Swaziland international, Justice Figuareido, who has impressed during his spell training in Pietermaritzburg, although the fact that he would occupy a foreign spot could affect the club’s decision.
Speaking to the club’s website after a defeat to Arrows in the Premiers Cup recently, Brian Onyango – a man returninf from a lengthy injury – said, “We can take positives out of the game, because we did well, we played as planned by the coach. So apart from the result, there are positive aspects we can take into the new season.
"Pre-season has been solid for us, we thank the coaches for the excellent preparation we have had, and we feel ready for our first game."
Maritzburg had a record-breaking season in 2017/18 as they picked up their highest points tally and finished in their highest ever league position, now they will be looking to try and push for some silverware in the new campaign.
