In what may come as a shock, the Siya crew can reveal that Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila are contemplating offloading Oupa Manyisa even before the season starts.
The Premier Soccer League topflight rookies paraded the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates midfielder three months ago, signing him on a two-year contract along with Joseph Molangoane from Kaizer Chiefs.
But news reaching the Siya crew is that TTM could part company with Manyisa before he’s even kicked a ball in an official match.
It’s thought Manyisa is carrying an injury that could rule him out for several of their opening games, including this weekend’s MTN8 quarterfinal clash against SuperSport United, but the hierarchy were hoping he would hit the ground running.
Yet, according our research, Manyisa has played every friendly game to date after picking up a knock at training.
Another factor, insiders said, is the fact that TTM are behind on salary payments and could struggle to keep up with what could potentially be a high wage bill as the club assembles a team that can compete in the Dstv Premiership this season.
Manyisa is believed to be one of the high earners.
TTM are also yet to appoint a new coach having already held talks with Owen da Gama and Norma Mapeza, but both those discussions appear to have collapsed.
When approached for comment, Sello Chokoe, the club’s CEO, would not confirm whether Manyisa was leaving or staying and was coy on the salary saga.
“That is news to me,” he responded.
“As for the coach, we will make an announcement in due course. There have been talks with several candidates, but we never confirmed anything.”
Manyisa’s representative indicated that they have not yet heard from the club about the players’ future, and if he was indeed being let go.
“We have not heard anything from the club. Your sources clearly know more than we do at this stage.” said Tshepo Mabona of Viasport.
