Mamelodi Sundowns will be without one of their key players this evening after the player picked up a booking in their previous Absa Premiership clash.
Gaston Sirino picked up his fourth yellow card of the domestic season last week, when Sundowns claimed a 1-0 win over Maritzburg United.
The player’s booking will now see the Uruguayan miss their Absa Premiership clash against Highlands Park this evening, where a win for Sundowns will take the Brazilians closer to Bidvest Wits, who are at the top of the league standings.
However, Orlando Pirates are also in action this evening against Baroka FC, with indications that the Soweto giants could be under pressure to secure maximum points as Sundowns are breathing down their necks at third place, just three points adrift of the Buccaneers who are at second place.
The race for the Absa Premiership league title is finally heating up, with Sundowns now looking to play catch up in the league, with the team currently having four fixtures in hand, which includes tonight’s clash against Highlands Park.
However, as said over and over again, the Brazilians are aware that games in hand do not mean points in the bag.
Following tonight’s league clash, Sundowns will take on Chippa United in the Nedbank Cup competition this weekend.
