The 23-year-old attacker has contributed to more Absa Premiership goals this season than any other player, having assisted five and put five in the back of the net himself, and his rise to prominence has seen him labelled as one of the most exciting players in the country.
Tau was again on the scoresheet this week as Sundowns went five points clear at the top of the table, and the Siya crew has been informed that talks regarding a new long-term deal could open up in the near future.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, Sundowns are eager to avoid another Khama Billiat when it comes to Tau and are prepared to offer him an improved deal before he even enters the last 12 months of his current deal.
With Bongani Zungu having recently left on a free, in order to make sure that they don’t end up in a contract battle next year, Downs could look at tying Tau down on a new long-term deal as soon as possible.
The crew will continue to keep tabs on Tau’s situation, and with the player seemingly happy at Chloorkop, it is likely that he would be open to a contract extension if terms can be agreed.
Tau’s current deal expires at the end of the 2018/19 season.
