Sundowns To Withdraw Coetzee Interest?
Mamelodi Sundowns To Pull Out Of Rivaldo Coetzee Interest?
Word reaching the Siya crew is that Mamelodi Sundowns are contemplating on withdrawing their interest in landing the club's Ajax Cape Town transfer target.
It has been revealed for over a year on the Soccer Laduma website that Sundowns were keen on landing the services of the 20-year-old Bafana Bafana international with Siya sources subsequently revealing that the CAF Champions League winners had approached Ajax for the player’s services.
Sources confirmed to Soccer Laduma at the time that talks and negotiations between the two parties were taking place behind the scenes, as it was believed that Sundowns and Ajax were set to reach an agreement about a potential transfer for the player.
However, it has since been revealed to the Siya crew that Masandawana could pull out of their interest in trying to bring the centre back to the Chloorkop-based club in the 2017/18 season.
Siya sources have indicated that Sundowns and Ajax are unable to reach an agreement about the transfer of the player, with Masandawana subsequently forced to set their sights elsewhere as they look to bolster their defensive department.
Indications are that the main issue impeding negotiations is the reported R15 million price tag that Ajax have put on Coetzee’s services.
Ajax chairman, Ari Efstathiou, previously revealed to Soccer Laduma that he was in talks with clubs in Europe about the immediate future of Coetzee. At the time, indications were that Ajax were looking to sell the player to a club abroad rather than lose his services to one of their PSL rivals.
Coetzee returned to club training on July, 25, after going AWOL for three weeks, with representatives at the club revealing that the reason for the player’s absence was due to his unhappiness with his salary earnings at the club.
As it stands, Coetzee will be donning the red and white colours in the new season, however, with the transfer window in full swing, it remains to be seen whether the Bafana international will be transferred in the current window, although it is believed that Sundowns might no longer be keen on his services.
