Mamelodi Sundowns Make A Move On Utility Player
Mamelodi Sundowns have exercised the added option on a defender-cum-midfielder's contract, which would see his stay extended until, at least, the end of the 2017/18 season.
As reported previously on Soccer Laduma, Sundowns were yet to make a decision about whether or not Mzikayise Mashaba will be forming part of the team’s plans for the new season, with a Siya source revealing at the time that talks and negotiations were set to take place.
A source has since confirmed that the option on the 28-year-old’s contract has since been exercised, with indications that Head Coach, Pitso Mosimane, still wants the player as part of his plans for the upcoming campaign.
As reported in the past by the Siya crew, Mashaba has been linked with both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates prior to the CAF Champions League winner’s decision on whether or not the player will be at the club next season.
However, upon securing his signature for yet another season, it remains to be seen whether Mashaba will see more game time after making just 15 appearances in all domestic competitions in the 2016/17 season.
In addition, it is yet to be known whether or not Masandawana will make any more moves ahead of the July/August transfer window, with a decision on Teko Modise also set to be made in the coming days.
