Siya sources have revealed what Cape Town City said about Mamelodi Sundowns’ interest in one of their strikers.
The Siya crew has learnt that Sundowns made an approach for Kermit Erasmus during the final days of the January transfer window; however, this was not leaked as City wanted to keep it under wraps so that it wouldn’t gain momentum.
However, after Masandawana made their interest known and were willing to table an offer in excess of R10 million for the player, City maintained that Erasmus was not for sale.
Erasmus’ goalscoring form has been crucial for the Citizens this season, having already hit the back of the net 10 times in all competitions so far this season.
However, the Citizens will need to continue without the 29-year-old for up to two months after a suspected tear in his hamstring. Although, they do have other options going forward.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Erasmus will continue where he left off once he returns from injury and if City will have a change in mind about his future come the end of the season.
