Mamelodi Sundowns have welcomed back a young Zambian winger to training in order to assess the possibility of the youngster joining the team on a full-time basis under coach Pitso Mosimane.
It was confirmed by the Siya crew in January this year that Zambian starlet, Lameck Banda, had been signed by Sundowns.
At the time, Banda’s representative from M Sport Management, Michael Ngobeni, confirmed the deal for the young player with Downs.
Ngobeni told the Siya crew at the time, “Lameck will be coming back when he is 18. He is currently with Zesco United. He will be playing in the Champions League with Zesco. He is a Sundowns player. He will gain more experience from playing in the Champions League with Zesco.”
A source has told the Siya crew that the 17-year-old is currently back in Mzansi from his loan stint with Zesco, and according to the source, the player is at Sundowns.
“He is back with Sundowns,” said the source, while also confirming, “Yes, he is back full time now, he is a Sundowns player.”
Banda will turn 18 in January and Downs will be expected to decide on whether the attack-minded player will be registered with the PSL after his birthday for the second half of the 2018/19 season.
The Brazilians are finalising their preparations for their upcoming weekend’s Telkom Knockout quarter-final match against Baroka FC.
