Mamelodi Sundowns are closing in on completing a deal with Phakamani Mahlambi, according to sources in the know.
The indication is that Downs could be set to finalise a deal with the talented midfielder within the next few weeks, as the club looks to further strengthen the squad for coach Pitso Mosimane.
Mahlambi, who is currently on the books of Al Ahly in Egypt, has been one of the leading targets for the Brazilians in this transfer window.
It has been recently reported that the Chloorkop outfit could use the money made from the sale of Percy Tau to Brighton & Hove Albion in England to try and lure Mahlambi back to the PSL, according to Siya sources.
Already seen as a potential replacement for Tau, Mahlambi’s name is believed to be high on the list of targets for Mosimane, as the new Absa Premiership season is nearing its start.
With the likes of Andile Jali, Lyle Lakay, Jose Ali Meza and Toni Silva already signed by Downs, the club has been strongly linked with some of Mzansi’s finest talents, including Mosa Lebusa and Lebogang Manyama.
However, it is Mahlambi’s signature that Downs would like to secure as soon as possible, according to sources. The Siya crew will keep you updated on the latest developments.
