Sundowns Assistant Still Not Back, Amid Pirates Link
Mamelodi Sundowns Coach Still Not Back In Training With The Team
Mamelodi Sundowns’ assistant coach, Rhulani Mokwena, is yet to report to training with the Brazilians, fueling rumours of his possible exit from the Chloorkop-based club.
It was reported by Soccer Laduma on August 04 that Mokwena is wanted by Orlando Pirates, as an assistant coach, following the appointment of Milutin “Micho” Sredojevic at the helm.
It was subsequently reported that Mokwena did not travel with the Masandawana first-team for a preseason camp in Rustenberg. It was reported that Mokwena had a bout of flu, explaining his absence.
However, the Brazilians returned to Chloorkop this week and Siya sources have revealed to Soccer Laduma that Mosimane’s right-hand man, Mokwena, has still not reported to training.
As reported in issue number 1035 of Soccer Laduma, Pirates will be reshuffling their technical team in the coming weeks and sources have revealed that the Soweto giants’ management are keen to have Mokwena as the assistant coach and potentially Micho’s successor in the future.
However, Mokwena is still contracted to Sundowns and indications are that there is an eligible reason why the assistant coach has not reported to training, despite the rife rumours linking the coach to the Bucs.
Now, it remains to be seen when Mokwena will return to training with the Brazilians or whether a move to the Bucs is a possibility in the near future.
