Sundowns Still Chasing Hamren
Mike Makaab Jnr says that former Swedish national team coach, Erik Hamren, is interested in making the move to South Africa, but wouldn’t discuss where he could end up.
Prosport International confirmed last month that the 60-year-old ‘liked the setup’ at Mamelodi Sundowns following a meeting that took place during his trip to the country, and Siya sources have suggested that the club was also impressed with him.
The crew spoke to Makaab Jnr to get an update on the Swede’s future, and he did admit that he is interested in making the move to South Africa.
However, he wouldn’t be drawn into commenting further, explaining that Mzansi is just one of Hamren’s options at this stage. Speaking in this week’s Soccer Laduma he said, “Erik is still very interested in a potential move to South Africa. With his extensive credentials, there has, of course, been numerous enquiries for his services in Europe as well.”
Sundowns are believed to be interested in bringing Hamren on board as a Technical Director at the club, although they aren’t the only club keeping tabs on his movements.
