Mamelodi Sundowns And Themba Zwane Still In Talks
Mamelodi Sundowns are yet to confirm whether or not an agreement has been reached with one of their star players about extending his contract beyond the current 2017/18 campaign.
Themba Zwane, who has been one of Head Coach Pitso Mosimane’s most influential players, will see his existing contract at the Chloorkop-based club come to an end next year, June 30.
The 28-year-old’s representative, Jazzman Mahlakgane confirmed to the Siya crew last month that the two parties were in negotiations at the time, however, a month later and an agreement is yet to be reached.
As things stand, there is no doubt that Masandawana wants to hold on to the player’s services beyond the current campaign, however, contract talks could be expected to drag on for quite a while.
Sundowns were recently eliminated from the CAF Champions League competition, after suffering defeat to Wydad Athletic Club in the quarter-final stages.
Head Coach Mosimane will be eager to make sure that his side clinch at least one piece of domestic silverware this season and in doing so, will want to hold onto the core of his squad.
However, like Hlompho Kekana who only put pen to paper on an extended deal just two months before his initial contract was set to come to an end, indications are that Zwane will find himself in a similar situation.
Zwane is expected to put pen to paper on a big money deal with the Brazilians, as he approaches the prime of his career.
