Kaizer Chiefs are still in possession of Lucky Baloyi’s clearance but are expected to allow the midfielder to leave the club.
Siya sources have indicated that the 25-year-old has been allowed to look for a new club, following his lack of game time with just five starts during the 2016/17 Absa Premiership campaign for Amakhosi under Coach Steve Komphela’s mentorship.
Initially, it appeared that Baloyi was still in Komphela’s plans after the club confirmed the extension of his contract in February. At the time, Chiefs tweeted, “Player Updates: Lucky Baloyi has signed a 2-year extension with the Club."
However, it was revealed earlier this week that the midfielder had parted ways with the club. The club’s Amakhosi’s Corporate Communications Manager, Vina Maphosa, however, would not confirm nor deny the news.
It has now been confirmed to the Siya crew that the Mokopane-born player can look for a new club, though it seems that Chiefs is still in possession of the player’s clearance.
“He (Baloyi) is likely to be released. He will be looking for a new club. But as long as he doesn't have his clearance in hand he can't be immediately available to join a new club,” said the source.
The crew will continue to investigate the situation further and keep you updated.
