How Chiefs Could Get Gordinho Back For Free…
Kaizer Chiefs are looking to cut Lorenzo Gordinho’s loan stint with Bloemfontein Celtic short and see him return to Naturena this month, though the move is dependent on several variables.
The Amakhosi sent the young defender on a year-long loan to the Free State in January, after falling out of favour under Coach Steve Komphela. However, the Siya crew reported recently that Chiefs are keen to try and terminate the loan spell.
Gordinho’s loan contract expires at the end of the year, on December 31, and according to Siya sources the agreement does not include a recall clause. This means that, under normal circumstances, Celtic would have to agree to terminate and could potentially demand financial compensation in order to allow the player to return early.
However, Siwelele’s financial difficulties have been widely reported in recent months, and if they are found to be in breach of contract with regards to their payment of the centre back, then the Amakhosi could have a case to terminate the loan without a fee.
Chiefs’ team manager, Bobby Motaung, suggested that that could be the case on their official website, saying, “The player also made a request to return to Chiefs after the reported problems the club has been going through.”
The Amakhosi have had a tough time defensively so far this season – no team has conceded more goals so far (5) – and with Teenage Hadebe currently injured, the club are hoping to get Gordinho back to Naturena as soon as possible.
