The identity of a Bafana Bafana player, following an arrest for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol, has been published.
It has been reported by the Sowetan that the player who was arrested is Andile Jali, despite the player denying the rumours. The Tshwane Metro Police Department has remained quiet on the player’s identity, with TMPD spokesman, Senior Superintendent Isaac Mahamba indicating to the Siya crew that they are currently not in a position to reveal his identity.
It was revealed in local media over the weekend that a 28-year-old former Orlando Pirates player and a Bafana Bafana international was arrested on charges of alleged driving under the influence of alcohol.
When a follower on Twitter asked if it was Jali that was arrested, the midfielder replied," It’s not me please guys."
As reported earlier today, the player has been released on R1000 bail and will appear in court in 2019.
“He has been released on R1 000 bail and will appear in the Hatfield Court, courtroom number two, on May 15, 2019,” Mahamba told the Siya crew earlier today.
The Siya crew attempted to call Jali for comment several times, however, his phone was switched off.
This is a developing story and the Siya crew will continue to keep you updated.
