A Lesotho international striker, who has been on the radar of Orlando Pirates, is strongly linked with a move to the PSL for the 2019/20 season.
Sera Motebang, who has been impressive in Lesotho’s Premier League side for Matlama FC, has attracted interest from the PSL after he impressed with his performances during the recent COSAFA Cup in KwaZulu-Natal.
“Sera Motebang impressed with his performances for Lesotho during the COSAFA Cup and a number of PSL clubs are interested in him,” said the source.
“The boy was league’s top goalscorer in Lesotho with 16 goals during the 2016/2017 season. He was the second top goalscorer with 14 goals during the 2017/2018 season. He is the league’s top goalscorer again for the 2018/2019 season with 18 goals. He was nominated for Player of the Season award. His contract with Matlama FC will finish at the end of this month,” added the source.
The Siya crew has learnt that the 24-year-old has Absa Premiership and NFD clubs among his suitors, with the likes of Royal Eagles, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhadila FC and Maccabi FC all showing interest.
In December last year, reports from Lesotho suggested that the forward attended a trial with Pirates.
“Yes, it is true that Sera is on trial at Pirates. It’s a week-long trial which started on 29 November and ends on 7 December. It came as a shock to him and us but the club wrote to us requesting to assess the player,” Matlama President Paballo Makakole was quoted as saying by Lesotho publication Sunday Express in confirming the player’s trial with Bucs.
Contacted for comment, the player's agent Ayanda Sigwili confirmed interest in the forward from the PSL, although he would not divulge the names of the clubs.
