Reports: Chiefs’ New Striker Linked To France

Leonardo Castro has been linked to Ligue 1 side, Amiens SC.

By Soccer Laduma - Jan 02, 2018 09:42 AM

Reports coming out of France have indicated that Kaizer Chiefs' new striker has been linked with a move abroad.

Chiefs announced last month that they had agreed to a deal with Mamelodi Sundowns for Leonardo Castro. The Siya crew revealed last year, in January, that Amakhosi were keen on Castro and after months of talks behind the scenes, Chiefs secured their target.

On December 16, Chiefs announced on their official Twitter account that Castro would be joining the club in January. “Breaking News: Leonardo Castro will join us in January,” Chiefs stated.

However, reports coming out of France have now indicated that Ligue 1 side, Amiens SC, are keen on bringing the striker on board.

“Amiens is going to sign two offensive players to replace the probable departure of Lacina Traore. One of them could be Colombian striker Leonardo Castro (28), who plays in South Africa (Mamelodi Sundowns),” (translated) it was stated in French publication, L’Equipe.

Amiens SC is the same club that Bafana Bafana international, Bongani Zungu, plays for, and it will come at no surprise that they have been made aware of Castro’s ability, following Zungu’s move to the club.

While Chiefs announced the player’s signing last month, they can only register the player as of today, January 2, with the January transfer window officially open. Castro is currently in South America and is only expected back in Mzansi next week, and unless the player has already signed the contract, there could be a twist in events.

The interest in the 28-year-old is yet to be confirmed by either Chiefs or Sundowns, and if the player is officially registered with the Amakhosi, Amiens will need to negotiate his transfer with the Soweto giants.

@Ambzo ...you cannot sign a player when his contract is still running with another team. Whatever you sign is invalid. It does not worth the paper it is written on. That is why Castro does not regard it. Ntshangase was said to have sign with Chiefs. WHY IS IT OFF??????????????????????????? ? because it was not a valid contract as it was done outside of window period. FACTS ARE PROVING YOU WRONG. ACCEPT THE TRUTH.

@setlaboswana that's what we have been saying all long you must learn to read before you respond you seem very much confused judging by the explanation you just gave , a player can be signed before the transfer window is opened and be registered when it opens maybe some of you think that you must go with the player to the PLS offices and frankly PSL does not even keep the players contracts ,only if there is a dispute that's when a contract is revealed to the PSL

@Ambzo, my point is not whether or not Castro is a fau striker. My point is that by the time you were making a lot of noise about Castro, he had not been transferred to fau because the transfer window opened today. That is my point. I don't want to comment on the alleged deal between Downs, Castro and fau because these things are done behind closed doors. I am discussing procedure and principle which seems to confuse you.

I believe the Castro hasn't signed yet as it happened prior the transfer window and was still contracted to Sundowns. But there's a good chance for a quick buck for us, 10 mil Will do.
