Kaizer Chiefs fans may have noted that, while Lee Baxter has started working with the Amakhosi goalkeepers, he has not been on the bench. Steve Komphela has now explained why.
Baxter was confirmed as the club’s Head of Goalkeeper Coaching last month as the Soweto giants moved to replace the Alex Revoredo, but nearly a month later it is still Brian Baloyi sitting on the bench with Komphela.
The 41-year-old former SuperSport United goalkeeper coach is training Itumeleng Khune and company, and it appears it is just a hold up with regards to his work permit that is stopping him from being a part of the matchday technical team.
Speaking to the media today, the Glamour Boys’ head coach Komphela said, “Lee is going through the processes, he’s part of us. He’s working with us and announcements have been made. We just need to go through all necessary protocols with regards to home affairs, processes and work permits required by (the) government in South Africa.”
Baxter has previously worked in Sweden, Denmark, Turkey before coming to Naturena to take on his position with Chiefs.
