A big deal involving Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town could well be in the balance now, with an Ajax goalkeeper set to reject a move to Chloorkop.
As previously reported by the Siya crew, Reyaad Pieterse is on the verge of completing a move to Sundowns ahead of the new season, with a five-year deal being tabled after SuperSport accepted an offer for the shot-stopper.
Even with Pieterse coming in, it is thought that Masandawana are still chasing Brandon Petersen’s signature as they look to further boost their goalkeeping department, despite the fact that they already have the likes of Denis Onyango, Razak Brimah, Thela Ngobeni and Kennedy Mweene on their books.
Petersen is believed to have been open to joining the Brazilians for the 2018/19 season after a swap deal was agreed between the two clubs that would involve Mosa Lebusa and some Sundowns youngsters, although that was until they got win of the Pieterse deal.
Now, with Petersen thought to be against joining Sundowns alongside another younger goalkeeper, there could be ripples that also affect Masandawana’s pursuit of Lebusa.
Sundowns duo, Keletso Makgalwa and Khayelihle Shozi, are already at Ajax as we speak, although a new deal may have to be hashed out if the Petersen part does fall through.
