Nigerian Into Third Week Of Chiefs Trial, Last Chance To Impress?
Kelvin Abara Obasi Could Have Just One Week To Impress Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs’ Steve Komphela doesn’t appear to have made his mind up yet on whether Nigerian striker, Kelvin Abara Obasi, is deserving of a contract with the Amakhosi.
The 21-year-old forward is now into his third week of training at Naturena as he looks to convince Komphela that he is the real deal, but at this point, it remains to be seen whether he has managed to do so.
Obasi was last playing for CSK Celarevo in the Serbian second division – his last game was in October – although it is now thought that he is a free agent on the lookout for a new club and the next chapter in his career.
Siya sources have suggested that the striker hasn’t done enough at this point to suggest that he will be given a deal by Chiefs and that this week could potentially be his last chance to leave his mark on Komphela and his technical team.
Chiefs have already signed Leonardo Castro – who scored on his debut – to their strikeforce this month, and with Ryan Moon scoring goals they might decide that Obasi is not needed at this point in time.
