A Congolese striker, who is enjoying a rich vein of form, is still an option for Kaizer Chiefs in this transfer window.
Idris Mbombo is the in-form striker from the Democratic Republic of Congo, who has emerged as Chiefs’ transfer target.
The 22-year-old is currently on the books of Nkana FC in the Zambian Premier League, where he has been in a rich vein of form.
A potential move to the PSL for the forward is still in the works, with both Chiefs and SuperSport United reportedly eager to add him to their respective squads.
As reported in issue 1078 of Soccer Laduma, Chiefs are monitoring the player for the progress he is making, according to sources.
“Idris Mbombo is currently on 12 goals in 17 matches. What else do you want? Before last Wednesday’s match for his team, he was on 10 goals. He scored two goals on Wednesday to take his tally to 12 goals. Chiefs is interested in the player and has been monitoring his progress,” said the source.
Mbombo is no longer on loan at Nkana FC from Al-Shabab FC of Saudi Arabia, as was the case a few weeks ago.
“There is a lot of interest in Mbombo which is coming from almost everywhere – left, right and centre. PSL clubs are keen on strikers like him – strikers who are able to score 12 goals in 17 matches.
“He was previously on loan at Nkana from Al-Shabab, but the loan deal has since been cancelled. He is currently with Nkana up to January. But if there is a possibility for a deal now, they won’t wait for January,” added the source.
