Six Coaches In Line For Chiefs Job?
Kaizer Chiefs Need To Decide On Their New Head Coach
The hunt for Kaizer Chiefs’ new head coach is officially underway, and several names have already been linked with the position as Steve Komphela’s successor.
Patrick Mabedi has been tasked with taking the team forward until the end of the season, with the Amakhosi management seeking to identify the long-term fix prior to the start of the 2018/19 campaign.
When confirming Mabedi as the interim coach earlier this week, the club added, “In the meantime, the search is on to find a new coach for next season.”
A lot has been said about whether Chiefs will go local or foreign when appointing the new coach, but after giving Komphela the gig before undergoing three trophyless seasons, there are strong suggestions that they will be looking to hand the position to somebody who was born outside Mzansi’s borders.
As things stand, the likes of Luc Eymael, Stuart Baxter, Nikola Kavazovic, Doctor Khumalo, Manqoba Mngqithi and Ruud Krol have all had their names thrown in the hat for the job, although the club will not be short of CVs as they filter through the best candidates in the coming weeks.
