Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have begun assessing their options in the goalkeeping department.
Brilliant Khuzwayo’s contract with Amakhosi will be coming to an end on June 30 this year, with the goalkeeper recently linked with a move to Cape Town City as well as Orlando Pirates.
Despite previous reports that Chiefs want to hold on to the shot-stopper, it seems that should the player not agree to stay, Amakhosi will have to assess other options as they look for a second choice shot-stopper.
Ass reported in this week’s edition of Soccer Laduma, Chiefs are keen on bringing SuperSport United’s Reyaad Pieterse back to the club to provide the needed cover to Itumeleng Khune.
However, Khuzwayo’s imminent departure has not been confirmed as yet, despite a number of clubs showing interest in the player.
The 28-year-old Khuzwayo is eager for regular game-time and is aware that should he stay on board beyond the current season, it will remain a challenge to compete with Itumeleng Khune for a place in the starting line-up.
City have been showing intense interest in the player, however, the crew was informed that the two parties were unable to agree on financial terms.
At this point in time, Khuzwayo staying at Chiefs is still a possibility, while a move away is likely too. However, the crew was informed that Amakhosi are looking at bringing in Pieterse back to the club, should Khuzwayo move on from Naturena.
