Long-Awaited Return For Amakhosi Star?
Kaizer Chiefs Could Welcome Back Ramahlwe Mphahlele This Weekend
Kaizer Chiefs fans could see a big name back on the teamsheet when the Amakhosi face Ajax Cape Town this weekend, with Ramahlwe Mphahlele possibly returning to action.
The 27-year-old returned to full training last month after a long injury layoff due to injury, and there’s a chance that Saturday’s game could see him return to the team in the absence of Joseph Molangoane.
While Steve Komphela will not be wanting to rush ‘Rama’ back too early, the suspension of Molangoane leaves him with few choices at fullback, a situation that could lead to Mphahlele or another recently-returned player, Kgotso Moleko, coming back into the fore.
It was injuries to the defensive duo that saw Komphela switch to using wingbacks in the form of Philani Zulu and Molangoane, and the Amakhosi head coach is not spoilt for choice at fullback as they approach the end of 2017.
It remains to be seen whether Komphela would rather risk playing a centre back out of position rather than risk Mphahlele or Moleko, although with over two weeks of full training under their belt, one of the duo could be thrown back into the mix against the Urban Warriors.
