Chiefs need to win the Nedbank Cup in order to avoid going three seasons without a major trophy for the first time in their history, but regardless of what happens in that tournament, major changes are expected.
The club confirmed as much in a recent statement where they said, “Decisive changes will have to be implemented at the end of the season to remedy the situation. At this stage, circumstances do not permit for us to make immediate changes. However, we are looking to have a complete overhaul of the team before the commencement of the new season.”
It was reported by the Siya crew that both Brian Baloyi and Patrick Mabedi could follow Steve Komphela out of the door at Naturena if his contract is not renewed, and it is also expected that Brilliant Khuzwayo – whose contract also expires shortly – will be playing in different colours next season.
Meanwhile, players such as Edmore Chirambadare, Sibusiso Khumalo and William Twala have been deemed surplus to requirements, with the likes of Keagan Buchanan and Bhongolethu Jayiya currently out of favour.
