Chiefs To Make Move For Mlambo?
Kaizer Chiefs are believed to be keeping a close eye on the situation of Bidvest Wits’ Xola Mlambo, with the midfielder having battled to secure a regular starting berth in Braamfontein.
The 26-year-old hasn’t had the easiest of times at Wits since the club splashed out to buy him from Chippa United, battling with injuries and then struggling to force his way past his other teammates as they went on to win the league.
Now, with Gavin Hunt’s team rooted to the bottom of the Absa Premiership, Mlambo has started to get himself some game-time and has already started nearly as many matches this season (4) as he did in the entire 2016/17 campaign.
As reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, the Siya crew has been informed that Mlambo has joined Chiefs’ list of potential targets as they look to turn around their barren patch.
Mlambo does still have a long-term contract with Wits, meaning that Chiefs would have to stump up a transfer fee if they did want to pursue him, although the fact that Tim Sukazi – an agent who regularly does business with the Glamour Boys, is his agent, could help the move if the player is keen on it.
Mlambo put in a Man of the Match performance to help the Clever Boys beat the Amakhosi in the Telkom Knockout semi-final recently.
