Kaizer Chiefs’ pursuit of Stuart Baxter has become a challenge, with sources revealing that the club is still assessing other options.
As reported in the past weeks by the Siya crew, Baxter is believed to be at the top of the list of candidates for the vacant Amakhosi head coach role.
However, with the coach still contracted to the South African Football Association, it is expected to be a long process before SAFA could agree to part ways with the Englishman.
Bafana Bafana will get underway with the 2019 Africa Cup Of Nations qualifiers early in September this year and indications are that SAFA will want to avoid having to go through the process of finding a new head coach so soon before one of the most crucial football tournaments.
Siya sources have indicated that Chiefs are keen on Baxter, although it is a big challenge to get the Englishman out of his contract with SAFA, adding that the Amakhosi management are still assessing other options, should they be unable to secure their man.
Chiefs have already begun their pre-season training, having also made four new signings ahead of the new 2018/19 season.
As things stand, it is yet to be known whether Chiefs will be successful in bringing Baxter back to Naturena, or if they will be forced to look elsewhere.
