Amakhosi Set To Meet With New Transfer Target
Kaizer Chiefs are believed to have identified a new transfer target for the club and are expected to meet with the player in the coming weeks.
The Amakhosi have already made a handful of signings ahead of the 2018/19 Absa Premiership season – most notably that of Khama Billiat from Mamelodi Sundowns – however, the club seems to be aware of the fact that they need to bolster the squad if they’re to compete locally and on the continent in the CAF Confederation Cup.
With that in mind, the Siya crew has been informed that they have shown an interest in trying to land free agent, Bongani Khumalo, following his exit from Bidvest Wits, and – as reported in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma - the club’s football manager, Bobby Motaung, is due to meet with the player in the coming weeks so that they can discuss.
Defensively, Chiefs were very strong last season as Daniel Cardoso played a starring role alongside the likes of Siyabonga Ngezana, Erick Mathoho and Teenage Hadebe, however, it appears the club is eager to strengthen that backline going forward.
The Siya crew will continue to monitor Khumalo’s situation, however, the centre back could be a good option for the Glamour Boys given his experiences at both club and national team level. The former SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits man is currently looking for the next chapter in his career.
