Kaizer Chiefs are set to make a decision about whether to exercise the added one-year option on one of their defender’s contracts.
Tsepo Masilela is currently in the final five months of his contract with Amakhosi, although, the Soweto giants do however have an added one-year option on the player’s contract.

As reported last year by the crew, the player’s representative, Mike Makaab previously stated that talks with Amakhosi were set to happen early this year.
“We’re probably going to meet in early January,” Makaab briefly told the crew in November last year.
However, according to Siya sources, the two parties are yet to open up talks about the 32-year-old’s future at the club and whether the Soweto giants will be exercising the option on his deal.
Masilela has been sidelined with an ankle injury since August last year, however, the club has since confirmed that the left back returned to training with the first team, although still undergoing rehabilitation.

Chiefs currently have Philani Zulu and Siphosakhe Ntiya-Ntiya in the left back department, although Zulu recently also suffered a blow to his ankle.
Despite some depth in the left back department, 21-year-old Ntiya-Ntiya has played just one game so far for Amakhosi since being promoted to the first team.
Indications are that Amakhosi are looking forward to having the experience Masilela back in action for the team, although his future beyond the current 2017/18 season is yet to be decided on.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Chiefs will look to confirm any contract extensions for the likes of Masilela in the coming weeks, with a decision about Siphiwe Tshabalala’s future also set to be made.
